There are 5 main game types that you can choose to play alone in single-player, or co-op with a friend, sibling or child. My "Clone Wars"-loving son and I had more fun just hopping from game to game, never spending too much time away from the Rancor Rampage mode. Kinect Star Wars is a fun, yet challenging Kinect game. There's a campaign game in "Kinect Star Wars" called Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising, which has the lackluster narrative of a theme park ride based on a movie. You hack and slash through waves of bad guys, occasionally stopping to use even less focused force powers. The lightsaber duels are more of a mixed bag. Microsoft’s mega motion-sensing Kinect system delivers the full body-mapping potential, sans any controller, and actually offers a fun experience for the younger, casual Star Wars gamer to. With a little more time and effort, it's easy to imagine a pod racing Kinect video game that gets more raves than this title will.
The controls for this game are already surprisingly tight. The pod-racing segments are exciting if a little tiring, as you take the reins of a twin-engined desert speed machine and maneuver through canyons using subtle shifts of hand position. Any game that lets you play as a Rancor can't be too bad - you're guaranteed at least 20 minutes of solid entertainment as you escape from Jabba the Hutt's palace and rampage through Mos Eisley, eating and tossing Stormtroopers along the way. Once you accept the power of the dark side, there's still a lot of fun to be had. "Kinect Star Wars" has a dancing mini-game that is bad bordering on surreal, replacing modern pop standards with "Star Wars"-themed lyrics as characters including Han Solo perform ridiculous dance moves.
